About Colors of Health

Colors of Health is a nutrition education program created by the Food and Wellness Group to help Americans understand the powerful connection between the colorful pigments in fruits and vegetables and good health.

The Color Way — Eat Your Colors poster
Fruits and Veggies — 5 Cups A Day, Better Health

The program is built around a simple, memorable message: Eat 5 cups of colorful fruits and vegetables every day — one cup from each of the five color groups: Red, Yellow/Orange, White, Green, and Blue/Purple. Each color group contains unique phytonutrients — plant compounds that protect both the plants themselves and the people who eat them.

The Colors of Health program is designed to make healthy eating approachable and achievable. By focusing on color as a guide, consumers can easily identify which fruits and vegetables to include in their daily diet without memorizing complex nutritional data.

The Food and Wellness Group is a nutrition communications and marketing firm dedicated to helping consumers make healthier food choices. The group works with food companies, health organizations and retailers to develop science-based nutrition education programs.

Our Mission

To inspire Americans to eat more colorful fruits and vegetables every day by making the connection between color and health simple, memorable and actionable.
